Rutecki is an American-New Zealand artist living and working in Auckland and working in the intersection of conceptual art and craft or applied arts; with an emphasis in glass and lost wax casting techniques, ceramic and heritage plaster applications. Currently they are developing a body of work (fishergirl) within the language of traditional figure sculpture and focusing mainly on ceramic.

[There was a weird Victorian garden statue of a fisher-girl in Albert Park, Erected in 1901, it was a drinking fountain, though the fountain aspect has been removed in recent memory.  I’ve been developing a body of work exploring sex and gender themes inspired by the figure’s gesture and stylization.]
